Bearded Dragons

The Summer of 2026, we have added Bearded Dragons to our Zoo/Farm again. I love them. We have added Genetic Mutations, known as "Morfs" in the Reptile World. At the time of this writing we have Red Monster, Citrus, Zero, and several "Hypos" & "Hets" meaning those that carry Gene Mutations for other Morfs.
I will be adding more photos very soon.
Deron, my husband, is back into, Herpatology, he has many types of Reptiles and a Website at FarOutPets.com It is a brand new site, so please visit it often.
Why Bearded Dragons?
Deron and I used to have Bearded Dragons in the past and I just really love them. 25 years ago I was sewing for them, dressing them in customs, making the customs into Harnesses, before I saw ANYONE else doing this. I have always loved animals past just feeding, watering and just holding them.
When Deron got 'back into' Reptiles, I joined in wanting Beardies. So I bought one, then, another, and then..... well? If you understand, you understand. Now I have a few and love them each.
Fun, Gentle and Easy Care Pets
Bearded Dragons make GREAT First Reptiles for Pet Owners. They are generally calm, so cute to look at, and fun to feed. Since they eat a variety of vegetation and easy to keep bugs, they are relativity inexpensive to feed. Best of all, they Rarely Bite.
Bearded Dragons are a Reptile that can be, and many demand it, kept alone. They do need a larger enclosure to live in, but it does not have to be fancy. Many people use just paper towels for substrate.

Bearded Dragons are, generally speaking, very docile. Many people dress them in little hats and or outfits, take them out with harnesses, and enjoy their Beardie's company while the Beardie sits near the computer as owners are working.
NEVER LEAVE AN OUTFIT OR HAT OR HARNESS ON YOUR PETS UNATTENDED!
As I said above, I was making clothing and harnesses for small animals long before anyone else was. I made them like miniature dog coats and sold so many for guinea pigs, pet rats, mice, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, and more. I used to dress a pet Uromastyx I named 'Little Dog' and he sat on my shoulder or by my sewing machine as I sewed.
Several Companies now make outfits you can purchase for your Bearded Dragons. I find them in Pet Stores, or on line.
Deron and I often see Bearded Dragons, at Reptile Shows, out basking under lights, some just sitting there, others dressed and ready for photos. Just adorable.
I will add more here soon about what sorts of vegetation and bugs they enjoy eating.
But two mistakes First Time Pet Owners Make, and they are DEADLY mistakes: No Avocado. None, not a bite of Avocado for Bearded Dragons!
And Absolutely NO Lighting Bugs! No. Lighting Bugs For Bearded Dragons!
There are other item that a Beardie should NOT have and I will add to the list soon. But those two items seem to be things that people think would be cute to watch their Beardie eat....only to find, they have poisoned their pets to death.

LIGHTS
Yes. Bearded Dragon NEED UVB and Heat/Basking Lights. HOWEVER! Be Careful With Lights!
Be very careful with Reptile Lights, yes, they do need them, but you can overdo it too. Many a reptile has been 'killed with kindness' with lights over their cages. READ UP ON WHICH LIGHTS TO BUY, HOW TO USE THEM, GIVE THE ANIMALS AN AREA IN THE CAGE TO GET AWAY FROM THE LIGHTS, AND KEEP AN EYE ON THEIR ENCLOSURE TEMPERATURES.
ROCKS, BRICKS, SLATE

TAMING BEARDED DRAGONS
Most Beardies are very docile and tame. But many also need to be shown that being held, should riding, and sitting near people is a good thing. Some, will just go right along with any of this, even when you first bring them home. However, some will need more training for these fun things for the Beardie's owners.
I will add MUCH MORE here.
The more you handle your Beardie, the more tame it will become. Also. A gentle rub around the ears of the Beardie will calm it. I have found even with a Beardie trying to get out of my hands, a gentle/firm hold with one hand, and gently rubbing their ears as I use a soft voice talking to it, will calm it.
The contents of this page for Bearded Dragons is still under construction. Please check back often.
